Scrabble “granny-style” just sucks

In the event that you’ve been living in a tomb, I’m here to tell you the most awesome thing about Facebook — it’s not the social networking thing at all. It’s the online scrabble games you can have with your friends and family.

Now, I’m not a huge scrabble nut, but I really enjoy playing a game and stretching my vocabularistic legs (I KNOW that isn’t a word, but just work with me). I also like to think I’m pretty good at it -I strategically place words where i get the highest points and appropriately block people from using the high value letters. I stick to what’s in the dictionary.

But, I am SO annoyed at the two letter words. I know that the “master champions” learn these words by rote, but “ER” and “HM” and “TI” are not words used in every day language! Using these words doesn’t expand the playing board and, in my opinion, is closely akin to cheating. I know the rules say otherwise, but it just doesn’t feel like fair play.

So, if you ever engage me in a game, warn me first that you play like a granny. And then look for another opponent.
